About the Role
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Financial Controller will manage and execute all core financial functions of the
business, from daily accounting and payroll processing to high-level financial planning and
forecasting. This role requires a hands-on professional with deep experience in financial
operations who can work closely with ownership to ensure sound fiscal management and
readiness for scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee full-cycle accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank
reconciliations, and general ledger
- Manage and process payroll, including timely and accurate HST and payroll remittances
- Generate and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and year-end audit preparation
- Collaborate directly with the owner on business planning, cash flow strategy, and
sustainable growth
- Maintain organized, up-to-date records in accounting software
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management, including
at a senior or management level
Strong hands-on expertise from day-to-day bookkeeping to high-level strategic financial
planning
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll and HST filing requirements
Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and financial insight
Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in a part-time role
CPA designation or equivalent experience preferred
