As another year comes to a close, many homeowners take time to reflect, reset and prepare for what's ahead. At Balson Pest Control, 2025 was a year of growth, learning and most importantly, helping families protect their homes from unwanted wildlife and pest intrusions.

As we step into 2026, there's one resolution that often gets overlooked but can save homeowners thousands in repairs: keeping pests out before they become a problem.

2025 in review... what a year! Thank you to our incredible clients and community for trusting Balson Pest Control. Here's to a pest-free 2026!

What We Saw Most in 2025

Throughout the year, our team completed hundreds of inspections across homes, cottages and commercial properties. While every situation is unique, some clear patterns emerged:

Wildlife Entry Through Roof & Soffit Lines

  • Squirrels, raccoons and mice frequently gained access where rooflines meet soffits, flashing and fascia, especially, after storms, aging materials or seasonal movements.

Winter Rodent Activity

  • As temperatures dropped, mice and rats sought warmth, often entering through tiny foundation gaps, vents and utility penetrations. Many homeowners didn't realize there was an issue until hearing noises or discovering damage.

Secondary Damage After Entry

  • Once inside, animals caused insulation contamination, chewed wiring, blocked vents and moisture issues, turning small entry points into costly repairs.

  • The biggest takeaway? Most of these were preventable with early detection and proper exclusion.

Why Prevention Matters Going Into 2026

Pest control isn't just about removal, it's about long-term protection.

When wildlife is excluded properly:

  • Entry points are sealed with durable, animal-proof materials

  • Rooflines, vents and soffits are reinforced

  • Homes stay warmer, cleaner and more energy efficient

  • Stress and surprise repairs are avoided

Prevention means addressing vulnerabilities before animals move in, not after damage has already been done.

The Balson Way: More Than Pest Control

At Balson, we don't believe in quick fixes. Every job follows our proven three-step process:

REMEDIATE - Identify and humanely remove the issue

REPAIR - Fix damage and reinforce weak points

RESTORE - Return your home to a safe, secure, pest-free state

This approach ensures we're not just solving today's problems, we're protecting your home for years to come.

A Smart Start to the New Year

If you're heading into 2026 with any of the following concerns, now is the perfect time to act:

  • Scratching or movement sounds in walls or attic

  • Visible gaps in the soffit, rooflines or vents

  • Previous wildlife activity that was never fully addressed

  • Older homes or cottages exposed to harsh weather

An inspection today can prevent a major issue tomorrow.

Here's to a Pest-Free 2026

As we welcome the new year, we want to thank our clients and communities for trusting Balson Pest Control with their homes and businesses. We're proud to be local, committed to quality and focused on doing things the right way.

New year. No pests. Peace of mind... Restored.
